Mid-September 2023 Update
A big thank you to the many people who visited for our National Racehorse Week event last Saturday. The weather was very helpful and we hope that everybody who came to Shovelstrode had a good visit – and that it carried on for those that moved off to Lingfield in the afternoon. The horses all enjoyed having a fuss made of them – even the ones that tend to get a bit grumpy when there is a lot of hubbub around the yard – and we enjoyed having everyone here. As a bonus, the event raised over £500 for charity, which will be split between MIND, the Injured Jockeys Fund and Retraining Of Racehorses. Either side of that we had visits from the Croydon branch of the charity MIND and the Plumpton annual members, so it has been a busy few days. Due to the limited transport availability, the MIND visit was oversubscribed, so we will be running additional days for them in the coming months. Here are some pics with a flavour of the days.
As for the horses, they are coming along generally according to plan, and if the weather is in our favour, we could have runners in mid-October. A bit of rain on the stiff grass gallops at Woldingham would do very nicely.

All the prizes were claimed on the day, so it would seem not.
