Dom Perignon Day update
Dom Perignon is reputed to have invented champagne on August 4th 1693, an anniversary that is only slightly tarnished by the doubts that the date was just one arbitrarily selected in the approximate vicinity of the event, and the significant suspicion that he did not invent it at all. Whether this is a shambles or nit picking is for the reader to decide.
There has not been much on course action since the last update, with only FLEMEN’S TIPPLE out and about. First we went to Bangor, where he tolerated a nightmare journey surprisingly well only to decide that the course layout was not at all to his liking. The follow up, at Stratford, saw him pick up a puncture wound, almost certainly after clobbering the fourth last hurdle, which spoiled what was looking like a very good opportunity.
Off track, the horses for this winter are just back in and starting on the walker. Not with them is CLONDAW ROBIN, who just gave the impression after his final run in the spring that he was feeling his age a bit. We have decided to retire him, but could be open minded about that if he sees the other horses get into the training routine and it makes him a little fidgety. At the moment the only horse in the Secret Circle Racing Club is YASMINA, who has been given plenty of time to get over a nasty infected wound that she suffered last year. A second horse will be added when a suitable candidate can be found.
