Sao Tome and Principe Independence Day Update
We expected to be busier than normal on the flat at this time of year, but a couple of runners have been working off minor niggles and a couple went over to Ben Brain’s for wind treatment, and it has not been the peak as expected. Special mention goes to Villeurbanne, who was three days away from his comeback run when he ripped off a shoe on a last gallop at Woldingham. It’s almost as if he was trying to tell us something…
Now, all of a sudden, the first wave of the jumps have come back in for light work as the rich grass after the wet spring saw them getting rather portly at quite an early stage – Clondaw Robin and Birdman Bob have a good eighty kilos plus to work down to racing weight.
A date for the diary is September 14th, when we will be staging our National Racehorse Week event. Hope to see as many regular readers there as possible. Registration details are on the week’s website here: https://nationalracehorseweek.uk/yard/andy-irvine/
