Prince Kūhiō Day Update

Apologies for those who have been looking for the site – a slight faux pas in the hosting renewal led to some down time. Not much of note has happened on the course in the last week or so. GODOT ran at Ascot and did OK up to the third last. BIRDMAN BOB went to Exeter and found it was incredibly, and unsuitably, testing. The positive run was PRIVATEARING, who made his comeback from a kissing spine operation at Huntingdon, and came out of it fine, despite being outpaced from the off.

Behind the scenes we have had two veteran departures. MONTY’S AWARD has moved a yard just down the road where he is being retrained for dressage by former Shovelstroder Sophie. He appears to be finding it all incredible fun. Shortly afterwards he was joined by FINNEGAN’S GARDEN. We loved keeping him around, but being in a racing yard seemed to be preventing him from switching off in retirement, so hopefully a more sedate home base will help him chill out a bit.

We also have had a veteran arrival. ATALANTA’S BOY is a nine year old sprinter who has won seven times over six furlongs, five of them at Goodwood. He holds the 6f track record at the venue. He has not run for a while due having initially retired, but he has not enjoyed non-racing activities and we are looking to bring him back and get the balance right between looking after him and letting him do what he most enjoys.

As for Prince Kūhiō Day, if you are Hawai’ian, you know…
