Clondaw Robin Blog – September 2026
Hello, helper monkey. I notice that you have been a bit slow to update the blog this month.
{You seem very smug today – Ed.}
Only as smug as I usually am, which is fairly smug. I was just wondering when you were going to update the blog to note that I broke the drought.
{Hmmmmm – Ed.}
I gave the instructions, which were on offer for some time before that, had anyone asked, and a couple of days later it began raining. As an added bonus, I notice that a water pipe up the road started leaking, so there was extra water for the yard. I have not had a chance to ask everybody round here, but the results indicate that they all did what I suggested. What about you? Which Let It Rain did you put on continuous loop?
{I broke the method and used two songs – Ed.}
That does sound like the sort of troublemaking that we expect from you. I noticed a long time ago, and even Privatearing recently realised, that when you turn up at our field, all we get is disruption. Even when we hide in the woods, you are sneaking around trying to find us. And before you interrupt, claiming that you are providing carrots, the quantity of carrots does not make up for the amount of personal aggro we get from your visits. After all that, you even delay the blog update to try and make everyone forget about my drought breaking success. As you can tell, I have a sense of grievance about it which I am not going to let go easily.
{It seems more like a bout of tetchiness – Ed.}
Tetchy is what I get from having to share a field with Backinforglory, Jack and Winnie. This matter is a far more personal slur. You even let Digger come down to the field to mock me.
{Shall I come back another day for a blog update? – Ed.}
No. The truth must be revealed. I think I would like you to get a great big banner made, which reads “Come and see the mighty drought-breaker.” And then stick it up on the A272. I know what you will say to try and wriggle out of it, but the people that visit as a consequence will be deferential admirers rather than bossy disruptors. I have a petition here from the other four horses supporting this idea, although I have heard a rumour that any petition that does not include signatures from Julius Caesar and the Pope is not considered to be official.
{To make sure I understand this, you want people to come and admire you for your half-cocked idea on how to break the drought, and you are certain that none of them will find it all rather ridiculous? – Ed.}
Yes, that is the long and the short of it. You have one simple job, so get cracking on it. Meanwhile I have to sift through my bumper pile of letters and solve which problems I can. The civil war in Sudan I do have some ideas about, but they need a little more fine tuning. Ongoing volcanic activity at Krakatau in Indonesia I could fix, but I quite like volcanoes, so I am not sure that I want to. Ah, here is a good one. I have an email from a Mr. S. Morgan, who claims to be the Minister for Fisheries. This might be true, or it might not, very few people would know or care. Anyway, he asks if I have any ideas on what to do about depleted fish stocks. This is a really easy one. Human beings should eat krill and plankton. If a whale can survive on them, so can human beings. I am not certain about this but I think they might be suitable for both carnivores and vegetarians. And when I think about it, if humans eating krill means we have to get by without a few whales, then so be it. Nobody has ever been able to explain to me what whales actually do, plus it might put an end to certain dolphins masquerading as whales. If any whales wish to write in and provide information on what they do, I think that everyone would be interested to find out.
