Abbasid Revolution Day update
This update is to commemorate the 1,276th anniversary of the Abbasid Revolution. Nobody at Shovelstrode was to blame for starting it, although Finnegan’s Garden may have been involved on a small scale. On to the recent runners…
A mixed bag since the last update. The best outcome was at Bangor, where a long trip was almost justified by GOLD CLERMONT making a rapid bounce back after her lacklustre show at Fontwell. A post-race blood test eventually returned results showing that she had been a little under the weather that day, but by Bangor she was back in fighting trim and probably lost the race due to getting in a bit too close to the last couple of fences and giving up precious momentum on both occasions. FLEMEN’S TIPPLE had, earlier in the week, had his own off day at Southwell, but his signals post-race were suspiciously similar to his colleague, so hopefully he will get over it just as promptly.
Whilst Gold Clermont was wending her merry way home from the north-west, MONANSUNU was making his racecourse debut at Kempton. The raceday experience completely bejiggered his mind, but when he did concentrate on running, he did just fine. More bumpers will be on the cards before hurdles as he is going to need the mental education.

Here is Monansunu with his confused face on.
And, like most round-ups, we end at Plumpton. BIRDMAN BOB was fifth over fences. He jumped really well for just over two miles and with exquisite bad timing, saved his one error for the second last, which cost him a place. CLONDAW ROBIN ran later on the card, coming home fourth in a race where he was out of his depth, as in two consecutive days racing at Plumpton and Lingfield, the chases up to two and a half miles were a 0-110, two 0-120s and a 0-125. Might making one a 0-100 have drawn more runners? Or at least not had all four races competing for mostly the same horses…

Birdman Bob wants to look away from the camera, but he cannot decide which camera
