Panamanian Cry Of Freedom Day Update
We had three runners last week at Plumpton and they all acquitted themselves well, without delivering the rewards hoped for. CLONDAW ROBIN had ground a bit on the quick side, but he needed a run and is not an enthusiastic horsebox passenger, so Plumpton it had to be. He managed to stay to the fore of the race until outpaced from the final bend. The run will have brought him on, and now we need some rain. GODOT was in a similar position, running from out of the handicap in the feature race, because there was no option better suited for his return from the summer off. The field went for home quite early, but having been slightly outpaced, like his colleague earlier, he picked off a couple in the home straight and ended up fourth. He will improve for that. The last of the trio was BIRDMAN BOB in the closing race. Patiently ridden due to the rise in trip, he got himself bang in contention in the middle of the back straight, but then fluffed the third last and second last hurdles. He too finished fourth, beaten four lengths, but those errors cost him third at the very least, and probably prevented him from making the head-to-head scrap for the win a three way contest. Other possible runners last week were not ground compatible, and we will keep plugging away in search of the right race for the right horse. GOLD CLAREMONT should be out soon – somewhere!
